There are many components to think about when building your email list as a new blogger. Most people focus on the creative aspect, which is important. If you need help with that I would suggest checking out this post published on Gaenzle Marketing. Sue-Ann Bubacz shares some amazing inspiration her guest post.

But you also need to know a bit about the technical stuff too.

Do you know the technical aspects involved to build your email list?

The first thing you have to do is choose an email subscription platform. There are many to choose from. I use AWeber.

Once you have done that, you need to set up an opt-in and email list in that platform. This gives your readers a way to sign up to your list. It also gives you a way to create email campaigns and and other ways for you to communicate with the people on your list.

I made this video to guide you through the process of setting up an email list on AWeber. It isn’t as hard as you think.

I use to be terrified of doing the technical tasks that are required to operate a blogging website. With practice, time, and many hours spent researching I have became much more confident.

It is a learning process that never ends. I have learned so much about so many things since I started. It is kind of crazy to sit and think about it, but I know there will always be more to learn.

  1. Thanks for sharing this my friend. I remember being so afraid to build a list because I was deeply intimidated by the technical aspects of setting up a campaign. Even though I knew building a list could be very helpful blogging-wise I just feared all the technical stuff that made my eyes glaze over. Tutorials like yours give new bloggers and list builders great clarity and confidence in knifing through the back end stuff seamlessly.

    1. The technical components of blogging/marketing/whatever you are doing online are intimidating to so many people. I am always afraid I will “break” something and not be able to fix it. Then what? Unfortunately, you can write the best email campaign out there but if you don’t know how to set it up and get it out to people it really is kind of useless.

It does take a bit of practice to navigate through all the technical stuff but I am getting better at it.

Thanks for stopping by and your kind words Ryan.
